CDL Truck Driver

Position Summary: The Driver is responsible for the transportation of the residents to/from campus pursuant to the established schedules in an efficient, timely and safe manner. Other duties may be assigned by the Operational/Co-Manager, Director of Maintenance or Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting, and all other laws pertaining to apartments and operation of a motor vehicle. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Operational/Co-Manager, Director of Maintenance or Regional Supervisor. General • Keep track of indicator lights and preventative maintenance needed for the shuttle. • Check tires, oil changes, brakes, lights, etc. (routine maintenance). • Maintains awareness of proper safety precautions at all times. • Constantly observes weather conditions. • Advise management of expiration of plates and necessary inspections of vehicle. • Keeps shuttles clean and free of trash. • Insures vehicles are locked and parked when not in use. • Check amenity pass to insure person is a resident of the community. • In case of emergency, must know emergency procedures. • Log miles and number of passengers each trip to and from campus. Safety  Learns and complies with all company safety rules, policies, procedures and best practices.  Immediately reports all unsafe conditions to Operation/Co-Manager.  Uses appropriate safety equipment at all times.  Must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, machinery, or materials encompassed by job duties.  Must check with Operational Manager if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.  Operates vehicles at all times pursuant to traffic laws and regulations.  Be in command and control of the shuttle and passengers at all times.  Follow pre-trip guidelines.  Report all accidents immediately. Qualifications:  Minimum 1 year driving experience.  Must meet physical requirements and take directions.  Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.  Be knowledgeable and skilled in the operation of the vehicles.  CDL Class “C” with “P” (Passenger Endorsement).  Must have strong communication and excellent customer service skills. Education/Training:  CDL License Competencies and Expected Skills:  Reasoning and logical thinking skills  Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment  Performs duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner  Works as part of a team, as well as completes assignments independently  Takes instructions from Operational/Co-Manager  Excellent problem-solving skills  Ability to interact with co-workers, supervisors, guests, residents, parents and the general public in a professional and pleasant manner. Working Conditions: Work Environment  This job operates in a vehicle (100%), in all conditions, for extended periods of time. Unless, duties have been assigned outside of driving. Physical Demands  Requires constant sitting and in a confined and awkward position.  Ability to step up into and out of the shuttles. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work  This is a full-time position, with minimum 40 hours of work per week. Work schedule is 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Must be available on some weekends during football season.  Weekly schedule may change as required. Travel  Minimal to no travel required.
